Thanks for sending Travis to pick me up. My Step-Mom Marty called in the pro's to help me understand that ours was a temporary relationship. It was about then that she said we were going for a long ride to visit some new people. So, I put on my best manners and looked really pretty for Martha and Bill; (I even "sit" for Marty when she got me from the car). It was so exciting to meet these people I could hardly hold still. They said they really liked me and wanted to be my special friends!
Well, the very next day Martha and Bill came to Marty's house and we all played in the dining room. They seemed awfully busy with some papers on the table, but not too busy to throw the tennis ball and pet Spirit the cat. They really liked my step sister Copper; she reminded them of someone they missed a lot. Then we went outside, but instead of playing fetch they let me right into the cab and took me home to their house!
What a cool place! They have a huge dish that is always full of water to play in. I especially like washing my tennis balls there; they float! They have a cat that is hardly even afraid of me, except when I try to chase her, and a neighborhood full of other dogs and kids that I really love to play with. Sometimes I get so excited I can hardly control myself, so I bark really loud to tell everyone how happy I am.
Martha takes me running every morning and boy can she run! It gets kind of quiet during the day, so I nap in the garage or along the side of the house in a special place just for me. Good thing I rest all day, as soon as Bill gets home he wants go mountain climbing up Gresham Butte! Seems like these people never sit down! And tennis balls? I find more of them every day! I've got a box full! We even went camping with zillions of birds and some really big elk to bark at. (I'll send you a picture from the top of Sleeping Beauty Mountain, and one of a Mt Adams Strawberry Patch.)
For some reason they don't seem quite so happy when I take food off of the counter, or when I hit the end of my lead and pop the collar in two. Their solution was to go to Obedience Training. Some punishment huh; a room full of other dogs, special attention for me, AND TREATS! It's like they pay me in cheese just to pretend like I know my name! I get to see Ralph there too with his new mom and dad. (Boy, you guys are great; a dogs best friend!)
Well, I better run, someone's talking about a play date with Scout, the retriever across the street.
