Success Story: Nellie (#1210)

Adopted November 20, 2005

Nellie
Dear Golden Bond Rescue,

Thank you for saving my life and helping me find my forever home with Deb and her family. My first person said I became dog aggressive so he surrendered me to the Humane Society and they said I was not adoptable. I'm not sure what I did wrong... Luckily for me, the Willamette Humane Society knows what a wonderful organization Golden Bond Rescue is and they called you to come rescue me. It took awhile for you to find a single-pet home for me, but you took good care of me in the meantime.

I am so happy now! Deb has spent lots of time with me to help me overcome my anxieties — she loves me lots and lots! She takes me for walks at Minto Park almost every day and she's introducing me slowly to the neighborhood dogs. I kind of like seeing them now (with the fence between us for my protection) and Deb's hoping that one day I'll be able to play with one of them in my backyard.

I'm not sure what I did wrong before, but I'm trying to be a very good girl now. It's not difficult because I really am a good girl! I love my forever family and I know they love me, too. Thank you for giving me a chance and helping us find each other.

XXOOXOX,
Nellie

P.S. Deb, Fran and Gene send a heartfelt thank you, too!

Nellie's "Available" Story

Nellie
Hi everyone! My name is Nellie (#1210) and I am looking for my forever home. I am a 3 year old, female Golden and weigh about 55 lbs. I've got those big brown eyes that say "just love me". And am I happy when you do! I love belly rubs, ear massages and just hanging out with the people. I just love humans. Doesn't matter if they're male, female or children. On the younger side or on the older side. Big or small, I loves them all. I also love to play fetch and will gladly give it back 'cause I know you'll throw the ball again. I have plenty of energy, but I also know when to settle down. I am completely house-trained and do my business outside. I sleep through the night and am happy to greet you when you awake. I also love to be brushed and groomed. Trimming my nails is no problem. I just lay there and savor the attention.

My personal trainer Cheryl — yes, that's right, I have my very own personal trainer — says I am "awesome". I think that's good 'cause she gives me lots of praise and treats. She has worked with me on my basic commands: sit, down, heel, and leave it. I am darn good at these, too. I think it's a great deal. I get to do stuff that gives me confidence and makes me feel good about myself. To boot, I get praise and attention. I am happy to "work" for all of this. It's what I do best.

Cheryl also says I am great with going into and staying in a crate. Again, just one more thing that is totally OK with me. I love riding in the car and will sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery or take a snooze. I am so easy-going in so many ways. Only thing really is that I need to be the only four-legged of the family. No other dogs or cats, please. If I see them, I usually grumble. Just remind me to "leave it" and focus back on you and we can go on our way. You can also have a few sessions with my personal trainer and she'll show you how to help me with this. This part is pretty important, since I do not react well when other dogs get too close.

So, it's the two-legged human family and not the four-legged animal family that I am looking for. I know there is so much love to give and to receive. And I am totally ready for it. Let me know if you are, too.
