Success Story: Zonkers (#1129)

July 9, 2005: Zonkers Crosses the Rainbow Bridge

Zonkers, who brought us great joy, wisdom and love, has gone to heaven. He developed malignant histiocytosis. We are so glad that we had the good fortune to be part of his life.

Adopted February 9, 2005

ZonkersZonkers (#1129), a 13-year-old Golden Retriever, is a perfect example of how basic care and love can transform a dog's life. Zonkers was seized by Tillamook police as part of a drug investigation. Zonkers was 25 pounds underweight and in very poor physical condition.

The animal control officer took Zonkers home, fed, bathed and shaved him. Golden Bond Rescue was asked to care for Zonkers until his status could be determined. Zonkers was placed in a foster home where he received the care and love he deserves. After three months, Zonkers has gained back almost all his weight and is blossoming. Vet bills for Zonkers exceeded $300, which have been absorbed by Golden Bond.

He plays with his 3 year old "sister" dog, wrestling and chasing. He is amazingly good natured, loving and gentle. He's sweet to the cats.

THE perfect dog! So perfect that Zonkers' foster family couldn't say good-bye. So, when the owner relinquished rights to Zonkers, he was already at his new forever home.

Another Golden Bond success story.
