In Memoriam: Buddy (#291)

Buddy Crossed the Rainbow Bridge on July 16, 2007

Buddy
Buddy Boy

Your name was Buddy
But I called you Mr. B.
Not playful and affectionate
like goldens tend to be.

No, you didn't act
like other dogs I'd known.
But you needed love too
and so I took you home.

Uneasiness and distrust
seemed to always plague your soul.
Whatever could have caused this
I don't really want to know.

Fear was constantly with you
at times making your life askew.
But that didn't stop you from being
devoted, loyal and true.

A reserved and aloof disposition
was usually the order of the day.
You may have lacked some social skills
but I knew you loved me all the way.

Later the name Mr. B
gave way to Buddy Boy.
You had begun to blossom
and your life had become a joy.

In time you became at ease
and I can honestly say
you enjoyed the last years of your life
and were even known to play!

Then you said you had to go
you could no longer stay.
So now your mind is free of fear
and you play with new friends all day.

Peacefully and with such grace
of this earth you did depart.
But you are not really gone
because you live forever in my heart.

Good-bye Buddy Boy. I love you.

My husband and I adopted Buddy (formerly Budee #291) in August of 2002. He left us on July 16, 2007 at age fourteen.

We loved him with all our hearts and we thank Golden Bond for allowing us the privilege of being his people.

Buddy #291

January 2003

Dear Golden Bond,

Its been almost 5 months since we brought Buddy (Budee #291) home to live with us forever. I can't tell you how happy wea are to have him with us. He is a prince!

Buddy goes to work with me every day and has become very popular with everyone there. He is such a gentleman! While in foster care , he had showed some signs of being fearful of men. His foster family helped him to start on his way to overcoming this fear and as luck would have it, where I work there are just girls. He loves it! With help from my soft spoken son and kindly husband we are happy to report that Buddy has left his fear of men behind him.

Buddy bonded to me almost immediately and has been my constant companion ever since. Even now he is lying right behind my chair while i write. The moment I get up, so will Buddy. I should change his name to Shadow because he is mine.

We love Buddy with all our hearts and cannot imagine life without him.

Sincerely,
Jody and Tim
